Statement: Justin Krebs on De Blasio’s Fall In-Person Announcement

Following Mayor de Blasio’s announcement that schools will return to in-person, five days a week in the fall, Justin Krebs (Secretary, District 15 President's Council; Exec. Board Member, PS39 PA) issued the following statement:

“De Blasio is finally listening to the parents, teachers and administrators that have been asking what they should expect in 6 month’s time. This is a huge victory—but parents, teachers, and administrators still have not seen a concrete plan on how we’re going to make this a reality. After months of chaotic and haphazard instruction from the DOE, we need to see a concrete plan on how students will return in-person to rebuild trust across the city. Along with the thousands of parents, teachers and administrators that signed our petition, I’m calling on the mayor to immediately bring together stakeholders to devise and share the plan for 5-day-a-week in-person schooling in the fall. It will be too late if we wait until June to get into the details”
